This fifth grade service club is responsible for taking care of the school’s flags. Each day, members of the SHS Color Guard, working in teams of two, raise the American flag, the Louisiana flag and the Baton Rouge flag in the morning and take the flags down in each afternoon. The color guard participated in a Flag Retirement ceremony when the school’s American flag was retired. The Color Guard is open to any fifth grader who is interested in working with the flags. Training includes instructions on folding and handling the American flag and a brief history of the flag.
